French Romantic composer Charles Gounod’s "Ave Maria" was originally published in 1853. The piece consists of a melody superimposed over a very slightly changed version of J.S. Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from Book I of his The Well-Tempered Clavier, from 1722. The arrangement (with additional obligato by Gareth Pritchard) was written for Robert Chambers, Principal Cornet BBCF 2023
